Agaric Services

Agaric Technology Collective is a worker owned cooperative in the Technology sector.

We are continuing into our 18th year of helping people gain the most power possible over their own lives as the core of what we do. We build software and teach practices centered on free/libre open source software to give people full control of their online presence and communication tools.

Here are Agaric’s services going into 2024:

  • Developing web applications and websites powered by structured data.
  • Programming in PHP, Python, Rust, Erlang, Go, and various flavors of JavaScript.
  • Improving deployment and development infrastructure, AKA DevOps.
  • Migrating content using robust, repeatable, and testable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) techniques.
  • Aggregating, cleaning up, and analyzing data with Pandas & other tools.
  • Building tools with machine learning and application of open source language models (“artificial intelligence”).
  • Rescuing Drupal projects — from developers who don’t know Drupal or, equally often, contractors who did fine with Drupal site building, but fell short with programming.
  • Upgrading Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 or other content management systems to modern Drupal (version 10). https://agaric.coop/services/migrations
  • Developing custom Django applications.
  • Setting up private online learning platforms, in particular BigBlueButton video chat and Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Training on all the above, with courses available in English and Spanish.
  • Consulting on technology strategy, content strategy, and building democratic organizations.
  • Speaking on privacy, cooperatives, technology, and more. Michele Metts in particular is a frequent public speaker. https://agaric.coop/people/michele-metts

We are also continuing our efforts to develop Drutopia (https://drutopia.org/) to help bring the benefits of Drupal, the enterprise content management framework, to orginizations with reduced budget. Drupal projects tend to be in the range $50,000 to $500,000 range, but thanks to Drutopia we can offer sites in the $15,000 to $50,000 range with options of self-hosted LibreSaaS.
